Change is hard and many times may be painful and scary, especially when you’re in the middle of it. Sure, there is good change: graduating, leaving home, marriage, getting a new job, buying a home, but even these changes can make us feel a little uneasy, unsure, and nervous about what’s in front of us. However, when we are in an uncomfortable place in our life: not happy in a relationship, not satisfied with our job, going through a divorce, loss of a loved one, loss of a home, sometimes we emotionally reject the change because it is too painful, scary, or lonely to imagine what it might be like if we allowed ourselves to accept and embrace the change.
The Butterfly can be a good reminder to us when we are in these uncomfortable times. Butterfly’s go through a complete metamorphosis through four stages in their lives: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. In each stage there is a purpose and a different goal. In the larva stage (Caterpillars), their purpose is to eat, in the pupa stage (Chrysalis), to the naked eye we see resting but inside the Chrysalis a caterpillar is changing its tissue, limbs, and organs into the beautiful butterfly we see pollinating our plants so they can reproduce and flourish!
In my life, I have gone through many of the uncomfortable changes I mentioned above. As I look back upon each of these transitions, I see that the moment I finally made a decision to accept the change and started listening internally to what I needed, I had my own metamorphosis into a new, more fulfilled me. The last metamorphosis, probably the most difficult one for me, is what helped me really understand my purpose for this life. It is not easy, it is not fast, it takes a lot of patience, and you must really be present to listen and observe your motivations. For me, I had to acknowledge that what seemed like the worst thing that could ever happen, might be the best thing that happened to me!
We all can change, we just have to be willing to change! If you are ready to go through a metamorphosis so that you can pollinate and flourish but don’t know how, I am here to help you find the Butterfly You Can Become!
